Baby Teddy Ruxpin

.

Baby Teddy Ruxpin is a tiny doll compared to the original full size Teddy Ruxpins. I was amazed the first time I saw one in person.

Here are the versions side by side. There are two colours for his shirt as you can see. One tan, the other a baby blue. He wears a tiny diaper that isn't removable. Supposedly (I have been told) there is a larger version, however it doesn't show up in Worlds Of Wonder literature. Nor does it show up in a promotional tape I have from the NY Toy Fair 1987.

He doesn't take tapes as the original full size versions do. He has a small chip inside that contains sampled phrases. Baby Teddy is interactive only on a rudimentary level. Unlike some of Worlds Of Wonder's other vocally interactive dolls (Pamela for example) he responds only to noises and sounds, not to speech patterns. He does have the typical Teddy Ruxpin animation though with eye and mouth movements. Animation wise he is MUCH quieter than any other version of TR. When I fiddled with one once I noticed very little servo noise unlike the very early first generation TR's or the later small TeddyII's.
